Daniel Long VS MFA Thesis 2013

Rummage Sale is a Metaphor for the Mind

This work engages a series of thoughts and topics that reflect on and add to the conversation of painting as a flexible medium and the role of the painter’s studio. The field of painting is ever expanding in contemporary times, as is the idea of the painter’s studio. Engaging the formal language painting, these ideas have shaped and furthered my ideas of Contemporary Surrealism and what that set of aesthetic approaches and conceptual strategies may look like. The work produced for this thesis engages all of my research while allowing my own voice to shine through and add to the conversation of painting.
