Gallery Conversations: Collaborations & Dialogues
Master printer James Reid of Gemini G.E.L. and collector Jordan Schnitzer in conversation with PNCA’s Christy Wyckoff.
In conjunction with Collaborations & Dialogues: Selections from the Jordan D. Schnitzer Print Collection, master printer James Reid of Gemini G.E.L. and collector Jordan Schnitzer join PNCA’s Printmaking Department Chair Christy Wyckoff for a conversation in the Feldman Gallery. Reid and Schnitzer explore their common interest in printmaking, and contrast the points of view of a prominent collector with that of the printer who has collaborated with many of the leading contemporary artists in America, including Ellsworth Kelly, John Baldessari, and Richard Serra. With an intimate working knowledge of the history of all of the work in the exhibition, Reid discusses their development from initial collaboration to final production.
James Reid is the Workshop Director of Gemini G.E.L., one of the most important centers for the production of graphic art since its founding in 1966. He has been the Workshop Director since 1998 and worked directly with all of the artists represented in this exhibition. Jordan Schnitzer and James Reid have known each other since Jordan first began collecting work produced by Gemini.
