Peter Koptiuch BFA Thesis Fall 2012
I roam the streets of Portland, Oregon, at night, camera in hand, documenting the quiet and invisible lives of its citizens. Selecting, framing, and shooting long exposures, my images capture and evoke the curiosity, wonder, mystery and isolation of domestic homes and their unseen inhabitants. My goal is to give the viewer a glimpse into a world they would likely never notice in hope that they will investigate the mysteries within the image(s) and perhaps even into their own lives. Can my photographs act as guides enabling the viewer to reflect their own way of living, in particular their life at night?
