Songs on Conceptual Art
Songs on Conceptual Art invited musicians to compose original songs inspired by Sol LeWitt’s Sentences on Conceptual Art (1969). LeWitt wrote this seminal text during a time of intense change in the art world, when artists were emphasizing ideas and concepts over objects and form, radically expanding previously held notions about what art could be and what artists could do. The Songs on Conceptual Art compilation exists as an installation for the PNCA Visual Studies Thesis Exhibition, a double vinyl LP, and a website, where the project can be downloaded for free (www.songsonconceptualart.com).
