MFA Lecture: B. Wurtz
New York-based sculptor B. Wurtz speaks to PNCA and the MFA in Visual Studies as part of the 2011-2012 Graduate Visiting Artist Lecture Series.
The MFA in Visual Studies welcomes B. Wurtz as part of the 2011-2012 Graduate Visiting Artist Lecture Series.
New York-based B. Wurtz’s sculptures are made from commonplace objects like shoestrings, buttons, food containers and plastic bags. Pulling them out of their ordinary context and incorporating them in aestheticized designs, Wurtz delicately balances the object’s autonomy and the design to which it has been subjected. Wurtz has exhibited work nationally and internationally for three decades, including exhibitions at Metro Pictures, New York; The Apartment, Vancouver, British Columbia; Museé des Beaux-Arts, Dole, France; and Cabinet, London, United Kingdom.
