Kanishka Raja

Graduate Visiting Artist Lecture Series 2011

Visiting artist Kanishka Raja is welcomed by the MFA in Visual Studies for a lecture that is part of the 2011-2012 Graduate Visiting Artist Lecture Series. December 8, 2011.

Kanishka Raja creates paintings, installations and site-specific wall works that are fed by images and information culled from the media and are deeply invested in the social and political worlds of New York and Kolkata (Calcutta). His process is fueled by the creative fissures and fractures between these two enormously different worlds. Raja’s work has been featured at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia and the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University, Massachusetts, among others.
