The Role of Art in Science: How the Creative Process has Shaped Scientific Understanding
I am interested in investigating how through history the role artists have affected the scientific world and vice versa. The scientist and the artist’s processes of exploration tie the two together and influence each to investigate and inspire one another. This link of the creative process between the two disciplines is what I believe to be what is crucial for realizing higher levels of scientific exploration, as the combination creates both wonder and resonance for the audience. Looking at the Age of Discovery and the cabinets of curiosities as inspiration for my prints and taking note of how wonder was employed to reach out to an audience in a new way, I explore a point in history where the artist and the scientist relied on each other to further their work.
