My thesis is an exploration into the nature and psychology of memory through the lens of my personal past using the medium of painting. Memory is an elusive and complex constructive process that allows us to retain information and reconstruct past experiences. It is also an important component to our identity formation and how we orient ourselves in time and space. Part of my investigation has been directed towards finding an effective visual language for communicating memory through painting. The resulting paintings operate as a diary of a search and struggle to reconstruct my personal past and serve as records of some of the ways in which memories are experienced.
