I Want To Know You: A Relationship Through Family Mementos
By analyzing photos, mementos, and family narratives, we can understand our personal history. In turn, knowing where we come from can help us in understanding who we are. It is memory that ties these three things together. In looking at how memory works and how memories are stored and passed down, we begin to realize that we are all connected through stories which are can be recalled through the use of photo and object. A way to store these memories and to make sure they live on outside of us is by way of a collection. Archives and documents are supplements to memory; it is in this way that we come to know the word archive and what that means and how archives function in contemporary art.
