Jillian Souza BFA Thesis Fall 2008

My goal with this project is to take my intangible thoughts about human interactions within cities, and transform them into something solid and relatable. With my project, I hope to communicate my point of view about the way we treat one another. It should be an abstraction of the disconnection I see from person to person on public transportation. The book will consist of a series of writings and illustrations. Each story or poem has been collected from people willing to participate, and will have an accompanying illustration. Other writings in the book include quotes from Portland commuters, newspaper articles, etc.
I want my project to work as a physical object that generates discussion or thought on the subject. For myself, it should work as a catalyst to express something complex, with the simplicity of art.
