Brendan Vail BFA Thesis Spring 2009
I have created the branding for a public art contest, the “Portland Art Rack Competition,” that helps to promote cycling and also raises money to educate kids on bicycle and pedestrian safety. I have worked to take the competition to a point where it could easily be implemented by the city of Portland or another non-profit organization.
I have created everything necessary to make this project a success by creating a brand identity, advertising campaign, press kit, and a website that serves as a hub for the contest. I have produced a large body of both digital and printed works, which help support the competition.
The brand has a very handmade feel to it, which not only reflects Portland’s DIY bicycle culture, but also alludes to the fact that the contest raises money to benefit children.
