This thesis proposal suggests a fresh spin on traditional board games by blending physical and digital elements to create an engaging adventure set in a grocery store. Inspired by the bustling chaos of real-life shopping, the game design highlights colorful visuals, exciting challenges, and dynamic gameplay.
Taking cues from influential designers like Milton Glaser and captivating art installations such as Omega Mart, the proj- ect aims to push the boundaries of typical board games by incorporating augmented reality and vibrant colors. Drawing from the designer’s personal experiences working in upscale grocery stores, the game seeks to capture the essence of shopping through its lively atmosphere, recognizable branding, and familiar symbols.
The technical approach involves branding the board game, crafting a digital counterpart, and integrating branding elements into physical space, seamlessly blending the tangible and digital worlds. Throughout the design process, emphasis is placed on organization, bold color choices, and intuitive design principles.
