Developing the look of a cartoon within a cartoon for this and other pages was a challenge. I ended up relying on more shape based designs, and lots of tangents in my line work to give it a more primitive quality. I originally wanted to have painterly backgrounds in all of these panels like old cartoons have, but it would have been way too busy.
