Katherine Bruno BFA Painting Thesis Spring 2018

This thesis is a reflection of my experiences with the goal of exalting the northwoods of Wisconsin. I chose to paint this environment because it was where I gained my passion for the outdoors. I greatly value experiencing nature, and I feel some of the most character shaping moments in my life occurred while I was in the wilderness.

I want to share my experiences so I paint the flora and fauna that I have witnessed not only to reflect but also to connect with my audience. It is my hope that when people view my paintings I am able to express both the tangable and intangable beauty I find in the natural world. I seek to capture the whole experience of being with nature. I wish to connect to my audience through relatable yet intriguing imagery in hopes of triggering contemplation on the wonder of life, promote outdoor recreation and encourage my viewers to share their own stories of the outdoors.
